Job: Category Manager

Location: Telford

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

Job type: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm, one day a week working from home

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and develop the online product ranges to deliver profitable business growth

Understand the customer journey: customer insight, through to communicating product benefits and reasons to believe the product will work based on crucial reason/s for purchase

Deliver innovation through new lines and product development

Source and meet suitable suppliers/manufacturers, including attending UK and international trade shows to drive innovation

Manage and build new and existing supplier relationships

Negotiate prices, payment terms, contracts as well as other aspects of supplier accounts

Ongoing margin management

Delegate product implementation tasks to the broader team, using their skills to optimise the merchandising and ensure that a market-leading range is delivered.

Reporting and data analysis - which will feed into the monthly board packs

Liaising with all teams within the group: Buying, Digital Merchandising, Stock Control, Marketing, Warehouse, Finance, Customer Service, I.T, CEO

Support the business to deliver ad-hoc projects when required

Manage a team of passionate and well motivated people to deliver the business plan

Take full responsibility for the business strategy and P&L to deliver results

Control and drive innovation against the economic drivers of the business

Reports to the CEO and attends monthly board meetings with the management team

 

Experience, attributes & skills sought:

Previous Category Management/Buying and Merchandising/Product Development experience is essential

Retail Buying Environment (Essential)

Experience in managing a team and reporting into Senior Management

Have the ability to understand the needs of our customers

A high degree of numeracy and literacy

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Able to analyse data and make commercial decisions based on information available

Have a commercial eye to identify gaps in the range and identify new market opportunities

Confident, resilient and professional

A great team player with a 'can-do attitude

A passion for succeeding and deliver outstanding results

Goes above and beyond just getting the day-to-day tasks done
