Job Purpose

Coordinate and maintain an excellent service to our customers and deliver the instructions of the Operations Manager to ensure all inbound and outbound cargo is completed on time and accurately first time. To provide a complete, efficient service to the company's customers whilst remaining within the set budgetary restraints.

Duties of the Post Holder

Coordinate labour to deliver the instructions of the Operations Manager and ensure that all jobs are completed accurately first and on time.

Responsible for the day to day running of the export desk and container operations including:

- Relevant paperwork and timely information provide to customer inclusive all VGMs regarding container and checking temperatures are set as per the paperwork provided by the customer. If there are any containers that arrive on site with incorrect temperatures these must be highlighted to management urgently and they should fulfil any changes required on time to prevent cargo being damaged. - Paperwork compiled for any deliveries expected within the next hour/day

- Details of any challenges such as containers that need to be monitored or checked for temperature

- Details of any specific priorities

- Location plans

- Details of deliveries expected late

Planning for the following days (inbound and outbound) to produce traffic sheets including incoming container number, seal numbers, VGM work any hazardous cargo to ensure all cargo is planned to the most optimum location.

Prepare and handover for the following shift /day inclusive of

- Paperwork compiled for any deliveries expected within the next hour/day

- Details of any challenges such as containers that need to be monitored or checked for temperature

- Details of any specific priorities

- Location plans

- Details of deliveries expected late

Ensure that the Stevedores (staff) are given support and instructions to ensure the daily operations are running seamlessly, this includes but not limited to; Preparation of export cargo yard in line with load back plan, reporting on receipt of export cargo inclusive of VGM, container management for discharge and reload, Break Bulk management on receipt and discharge of cargo based on the agreement with the office and people responsible for pre-optimisation of cargo.

Ensure that the Stevedores are given training and have the knowledge and understanding to complete all tasks in a productive and safe environment.

Responsible for the safety and security of staff and other personnel associated with the operation, whilst conforming to all the companies Cargo and statutory requirements.

You are required to be a champion of change and drive passion and collaboration throughout the organisation.

Agree, install, and maintain high standards of performance, behaviour, and appearance within the Cargo Stevedores team.

Carry out all duties in compliance with the company's policies and procedures and operating procedures.

Responsible for the identification and management of risks, both hazardous and opportunistic and to actively promote a risk awareness and safety culture in accordance with the Company's risk management and health & safety policies.

Check accuracy of loading and receiving cargo and report any mistakes to the management and carry out investigations where there is a need following either an accident, incident or near miss.

Comply with environmental instructions and to identify potential risks to the environment, or areas where environmental impact can be reduced.

Raise quality non-conformances via the reporting system where an issue has been identified where customer services or statutory requirements are being affected.

Generic Duties

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, you will be required to perform other duties as assigned by management from time to time. Such duties will, however, be reasonable in relation to the jobholder's skills, abilities, and status.

To comply with all safety instructions and to accept responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by what you do. To identify potential risks in the work area, and to report such risks promptly to management.

Shift - Various shifts, flexibility on working hours is essential.
