Job Type: Permanent
Location: Torquay
Hours of work: Monday - Friday 37.5hours
Salary: £32-40K DOE

Summary:

  • Support NPI projects with focused delivery the new product designs into manufacturing
  • Deliver new products from initial prototypes into volume manufacturing that meet specification and low cost requirements
  • Work within the Pilot Line Value Stream and with the engineering teams to deliver the needs of new product delivery within the NPI framework to customer requirements
  • Work the development engineering to meet the defined financial requirements of the Pilot Line Value Stream ready for introduction into the Volume Value Stream Lines
  • Ensure that relevant project and product risks are mitigated through effective risk management processes
  • To assist the operations team to establish the effective manufacturing of product by developing optimised processes
  • To develop and implement new technologies, equipment and processes to reduce cost and improve quality


THE ROLE:

  • To scope and design processes, implement production equipment, cost control and process risk assessments
  • To deliver efficient and low cost production lines into the volume value streams
  • To provide engineering expertise to deliver projects effectively and efficiently into manufacturing
  • To provide technical support and expertise of manufacturing processes in order to improve performance with regards to quality, output, productivity and cost
  • Constantly review and investigate industry technology improvements and suggest best practice manufacturing and processes where applicable
  • You will assist in establishing manufacturing standards, monitoring performance and analysing deviations across the manufacturing facility
  • To assist with the implementation of quality improvements, including leading and maintaining PFMEA's and introducing risk mitigation
  • Optimise the flow of product through process balancing, management of material flow and process capacity assessments
  • Implement process flow improvements, process controls and measures of process effectiveness
  • Support and drive the introduction of new technologies into the Value Stream to implement world class manufacturing
  • Install the voice of manufacturing throughout each NPI project by acting as a gate keeper and instigator for manufacturing excellence
  • Support the accurate costing of New Products through setting up effective monitoring for yields and cycle times and feeding this back into the design process
  • Ensuring products are designed and manufactured to the highest level of quality, in a safe and timely manner that will meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Performs all job duties within ISO and AS standards, regulatory or statutory requirements
  • Monitors, reviews and improves project lead times by reducing risks within the design and process development phase and driving continuous improvement through the development cycle
  • Maintains a safe work environment, performs all job duties in a safe manner ensuring a high level of awareness amongst employees whilst complying with all policies and procedures


PERSON SPECIFICATION -

  • Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in an engineering and/or scientific subject
  • 3+ years' experience in a technical engineering environment
  • 2+ years' experience in a technical manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Exposure to a LEAN manufacturing environment
  • Have an understanding of NPI strategy and tools
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing & Continual Improvement strategy
  • Use of FMEAs, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis and Process capability studies
