The Role

Are you a Project Manager who thrives on working in a fast-paced environment and has experience in delivering IT projects preferably within Logistics and/or Distribution sectors? Then this might just be the role you are looking for.

As a fast-growing business who prides itself on being able to respond quickly to customer needs, my client is looking for an experienced IT Project Manager who can bring structure and governance to a growing portfolio of projects. You will need to be prepared to get hands on helping our business and clients to articulate and realise their project requirements, whilst retaining a helicopter view on dependencies within and across projects.

No one day will be the same as you get stuck in with the planning, management and execution of IT systems projects including new client implementations, customer change requests and strategic projects to improve business systems and processes to support the service delivery of existing contracts. As a member of the IT team, you will be working alongside software development teams supporting day to day operations along with facilitating the service delivery for existing contracts.

The role will also require some business analyst activities supporting requirement gathering processes, providing design and consultancy to customers and internal departments.

Duties

  • Manage projects from initiation through delivery, managing scope, risk and ensuring completion of the project objectives to agreed timescales, budget constraints and quality standards. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality specifications including managing the project’s scope and preventing scope creep unless agreed.
  • Work with internal/external project stakeholders to assist in defining and documenting business requirements and manage expectations. Produce business cases, project management plans, technical and functional documentation for both existing and new systems, and other project documentation keeping them updated with actual progress.
  • Evaluate project risks, develop contingency plans, and respond quickly to changes in risk as projects progress. Escalate any issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate manager or project sponsor. Manage and deliver the required changes for each project and for each phase within a project, ensuring that these meet any aims, objectives, or critical success factors agreed in the project plan.
  • Collaborate with the development team leads to manage the scheduling of work for the team and co-ordinate a multi-application software release program.
  • Manage all levels of testing; including unit/system and user acceptance, both internally and with third parties.
  • Work with the development team leads to produce estimates for customer projects or change requests ensuring that costs are tracked, and do not exceed those approved.
