Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking to recruit a Senior Operations Manager for our client, an industry leader in IT, providing comprehensive logistics, integration services and technology solutions to join their SMT covering the UK sites.

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with proven communication skills and a strong work ethic to join our client as a Senior Operations Manager working in a challenging, fast-paced and energetic environment.

Reporting to the Vice President, the Senior Operations Manager will have the over-arching responsibility for driving long-range strategic planning process for all UK operations and managing all Manufacturing and Warehouse operations including 3PL, across all sites; Planning and administrating; prioritising production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply.

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible the smooth and timely flow of plant production is maintained ensuring quality product is delivered to the next operation/customer, achieving business goals of the operation including cost, quality, safety, and delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Contract Manufacturing experience and managing multiple manufacturing operations, with an in-depth knowledge of quality control in a lean manufacturing environment with special interest in Automotive, Electrical and IT assembly sectors.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Directs the operations of Manufacturing and Warehousing functions across multiple sites.
  • Drives long-range strategic planning process for operations by overseeing and managing all Operations activities
  • Defines goals, improves technology, and resolves problems in conjunction with other department leaders i.e. Sales, Quality Management.
  • Translates customer requirements into manufacturing strategies and processes resulting in cost effective processing and company profits
  • Develops and executes operational policies and procedures
  • Ensures operations staff achieves business goals related to productivity, labour rates, shipping and inventory accuracy
  • Overarching responsibility for safety and regulatory compliance for the UK sites
  • Interacts internally and externally with executive level management requiring negotiation of extremely difficult matters to influence policymaking. Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers.
  • Responsibilities for direct reports, including their appraisals and ensure ongoing training plans are in place to develop staff and maintain the required skill levels across all areas of Manufacturing and Warehouse Functions.
  • Participates with senior managers and executives to establish strategic plans and objectives for Manufacturing Operations
  • Devises high level, cost efficient organizational action plans for meeting business targets and objectives.
  • Identifies and evaluates fundamental problems for major functional areas though assessment and provides action plans for resolution
  • Directs and controls the activities of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups or service areas through senior managers who have overall responsibility
  • Will be required to travel outside of the UK periodically
  • Proven ability to lead a cooperative effort among members of a large and diverse team.
  • Solid background working in a fast-paced, customer focused environment, formulating strategies and utilizing internal/external resources.
  • Manufacturing, Distribution/warehouse knowledge and experience.
  • Advanced Operational and tactical planning skills
  • Expert knowledge of shipping/receiving and inventory control processes and procedures.

  • Relevant management Degree or equivalent, typical 15+ years proven and effective experience in relevant Senior Manufacturing capacity. Knowledge of facilities, full lifecycle people management, finance/budgeting and logistics, Health and safety and Environmental aspects
  • In depth understanding of tools, techniques, and manufacturing practices, e.g., Lean, Six Sigma. Acts as a senior technical contributor, using own understanding of state-of-the-art applications to contribute to the business direction
  • Proven ability to lead a cooperative effort among members of a large and diverse team.
  • Proven ability to drive forwards sustainable improvements in a fast-paced, customer focused Manufacturing environment, formulating strategies and utilizing internal/external resources.
  • Knowledge of ISO audits and compliance items as well as industry standards/practices applied in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work with other leaders within the business to support overall Business strategy and must be able to contribute effectively to long term strategic Business goals
  • Able to work in both an office and Plant environment
  • There will be some international travel to the USA site approx. once a year or every 18 months

Remuneration:

Attractive Salary and benefits package - negotiable depending on experience

Bonus - Profit Share

Hours - Monday to Friday 8.30 -5pm (must be flexible due to evening calls with USA and China)
