Job Type: Permanent
Location: Bridgwater
Hours of work: Monday - Friday 36.25 hours / 5 days per week Flexible hours working is available)
Salary: up to £25K


Summary:
Working within a friendly and supportive team, this role shall be working on a high-volume payroll, weekly, fortnightly, 4-weekly and monthly. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude and a minimum of 3 years working within a payroll bureau or within an in-house payroll environment. It is likely that for the first few months the role will need to be carried out remotely for either some or all of the time hence candidates will need to have the ability to work efficiently remotely.


Responsibilities:

  • Running all aspects of client payrolls including start through to checking, checking and auto enrolment
  • Communication with clients and responding to client questions relating RTI, auto enrolment and HMRC legislative changes
  • Reviewing and verifying source documents
  • Processing payroll by established deadlines
  • Issuing statements of earnings and deductions
  • Reconciling employee deductions
  • Investigating and correcting payroll discrepancies and erros
  • Updating payroll records by recording changes including auto enrolment pension, loan payments and salary increases
  • Processing new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions
  • Preparing and printing payroll reports of earnings, hours worked, PAYE tax and National Insurance, auto enrolment pension and leave
  • Addressing employee's pay related concerns and providing accurate payroll information
  • Completing request for pay related documents including statements and verifications
  • Producing HMRC payments
  • Developing, managing and maintaining comprehensive payroll records
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and guidelines
  • Assisting with general office administrative duties from time to time
  • Furlough calculations, including flex furlough and holiday pay top ups



REQUIREMENTS:

  • You will need to have an analytical and methodical approach to your work and be able to apply both common sense and technical skills to different assignments
  • Calm and efficient under pressure, with the ability to respond to client enquiries promptly, accurately and efficiently
  • Confident, professional and team orientated in approach
  • Resilient, able to multi task and work independently
  • Enjoys dealing with clients and delivering excellent customer service
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Education to A-Level/CIPP or equivalent desirable
  • Experience of payroll processing
  • Good working knowledge of Brightpay - advantageous
  • Knowledge of Auto Enrolment legislation - essential
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles - advantageous
  • Understanding of internal controls
  • Knowledge of HMRC payroll regulations and requirements - essential
