The Role

The Business Domain (BD) Architect is responsible for developing the IT architecture for specific Business functions with a focus on designing IT capabilities to support the corresponding business processes to support and enable business strategy.

Key Accountabilities: 

Accountable for the creation and maintenance of the IT architecture for specific business functions with a time horizon of 5 years. The Domain Architecture describes the business processes including the supporting ITsolutions.

Leads the modelling of business processes, the relationship flows and IT solutions for specific business functions.

Works within a team to determine and develop and approve architectural approached and solutions, conducts business reviews, documents current systems, and recommends on how to improve the current IT landscape (e.g., maintain, enhance, replace and retire).

Assists in the development of implementation plans for key aspects of architecture within the business domain, or enterprise based on business requirements and IT strategies.

Develops and tailor's application design concepts and deployment plans for the transformation of the current application portfolio toward a desired future state on a need basis.

Supports the development of business process models describing the context for development of future IT solutions.

Reviews and provides guidance to project teams, accountable for ensuring compliance with Company standards and IT architecture direction.

Accountable for the overall solution-level integrity of applications within the context of the IT architecture and standards.

As one member in a small team of Architects, develops and maintains the overall domain IT roadmaps and application evolution plans.

Acts as an Architectural consultant in complex business and IT projects. Accountable to ensure that projects maintain an enterprise-wide view and architectural compliance.

The Candidate

You will be educated to Honours bachelor's degree or higher.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills: -

-Knowledge of TOGAF architecture model.

-Very strong understanding of corporate business processes such as concept to product, order to cash, demand to supply, procure to pay, hire to retire etc.

-Strong preference for Business or domain experience in Manufacturing or similar

-Advice and Guidance, Business Strategy and planning, Technical strategy, and planning

-Experience or knowledge in a variety of IT Techniques and principles would be highly desirable including Business Analysis, Data Modelling and Software Development, especially modelling business processes using the company tools (ArchiMate)

-Demonstrable and significant technical, business and project expertise in roles such as domain architect, application designer, application architect, solution architect or project manager

-Preferably proven experience acting in a Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, Technical Specialist, or Business Analyst (Senior BA for the SBDA role) capacity within a large and complex organisation
