The opportunity,

About the role
As an Electrician / Wireman, you will install and connect a wide range of cables, accessories and substation switchgear / plant associated with distribution network. This could include the installation and termination of Multicore Cables, installing protection panels, wall boxes, busbars, structures and plant as well as small power and lighting.
Although we'll develop your skills and build on your experience, you'll certainly need motivation, commitment and flexibility, alongside appropriate permission to drive in the UK and willingness to travel between sites. City and Guilds Level 2/3 in electrical installation is essential and NVQ level 3 is desirable. Once fully competent, you'll then mentor less experienced colleagues, and monitor progress of contractors.
Safety
You will be expected to follow established work safety practices, working to the distribution safety rules, while controlling environmental impacts and complying with legislative responsibilities. Identifying and eliminating hazards and potentially dangerous situations will be everyday tasks along with working to Method statement, Risk Assessments and carrying out point of work risk assessments (POWRA).
Your accountabilities
- The use of resources at the worksite is cost effective and efficient;
- Cables, cable accessories and auxiliary equipment associated with cable systems are installed in accordance with quality assurance; engineering design, time constraints, statutory requirements and relevant standards;
- Standard tools, equipment is maintained to ensure their safety and reliability;
- Work is performed in accordance with the relevant standard work practices; Workplace Health & Safety and environmental standards.
- Successfully pass audits on works undertaken.
Other duties may include:
- Carrying out safety audits, risk assessments and hazard management to ensure worksite safety in accordance with Workplace Health & Safety requirements;
- Installing package substations / switchgear and GRP Housings.
- Installing substation earth systems.
- Excavation works. Use of cable avoidance equipment (CAT)
- Testing installations and recording results.
- Mark up drawings showing joint positions, wiring design changes etc.
- Completing on site risk assessments.
- Providing direction to the work team by setting high standards of work quality and coaching or training the team members to achieve these standards;
- Actively participating within a field environment to complete projects in the most efficient and effective manner; and providing input to project staging to achieve agreed timeframes;

Provide regular service status updates to line management and agree and monitor service availability targets
Ensure the active/active WAN bandwidth and connectivity services are sufficient, balanced and perform efficiently. Plan and test failover of critical operational services.

Work closely with NIBE SOC teams and internal security engineers to ensure all preventative security measures are implemented.

About the role
Reporting to the Head of Commercial, you will be responsible for delivering contestable connections on time and within budget. You will be responsible for liaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders to meet the project programme and the client's specifications. You will monitor and forecast project performance and costs, and ultimately control the overall project to ensure desired outcomes are achieved. An opportunity has arisen for Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our client, a specialist manufacturer in the Barnsley area. Excellent salary and progression opportunities for the right candidate
The focus of the role is to work closely with the production team to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption.
They will need to work collaboratively with the engineering team, supporting and identifying means of improving plant productivity. They will ensure that any spare parts, materials, and equipment are available. They will be able to investigate and establish the causes of all breakdowns and machinery speed losses and record any repairs to ensure recurrent faults can be recognised.
The Candidate:
To successfully carry out this role you will need to be multi-skilled preferably with an Electrical bias. Electrically you will be able to fault find on single and three-phase systems, servo motors and AC motors, sensors, and various control systems. There will be an element of electrical installation as required, typically lighting and small power. Knowledge of plc electronics desired.
Mechanically you will be able to work on drive train systems, rollers, gearboxes, shafts, pneumatics, and some hydraulics. There is a requirement to be able to strip machine assemblies to component level and rebuild. You will also need to have demonstrated experience in maintenance engineering and show the ability to work off your own initiative.
Education to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is preferred, but not essential as we would consider "time served" as experience.
You will be multi-skilled and have strong communication skills and excellent organisational skills.
