Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking for an experienced Practice Accountant to join a busy firm based in York.

The Company

You will be joining an exciting and ambitious general accountancy practice supporting individuals and owner managed businesses in their accountancy and tax affairs.

The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering accurate, timely and efficient accountancy, tax and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. Supporting the managing director and team to maintain excellent client service, contribute to business strategy and practice development.

If you have a 'can do' attitude and enjoy no two days ever being the same then you may be the person we are looking for.

You will be able to provide excellent technical advice to the firm’s clients in the areas of accounts preparation for sole traders and statutory accounts preparation for limited companies, personal tax, tax planning, VAT Return preparation and software section and training.

You will be enthusiastic and ambitious and keen to contribute to the continued success of the practice.

The Person

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant practice experience in a management role
  • You will have a solid breadth of technical expertise in all aspects of accountancy and taxation with a continuing desire for personal development.
  • It is essential that you love communicating with a broad cross section of individuals and be genuinely passionate about working with and supporting clients.

You will have an understanding of the legislation and rules in areas such as tax payment and exemption. You would also be offering advice on which forms need to be used in different situations. For instance, claiming maternity pay or a tax refund.

You may also provide assistance to human resources. This could include offering payroll support to new staff and completing paperwork for staff who are leaving such as a P45 document.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • The ideal candidate will be able to work well under pressure within a fast-paced environment, carrying out a variety of tasks and be able to prioritise workload.
  • At least 1 year’s experience in general accounting is preferred.
  • SAGE 50 Accounts or similar
  • AAT or working towards
  • Excel
