Job Overview

  • To manage, maintain & develop staff & machinery in a manner that will ensure the team consistently achieve the targeted levels of performance, in the most cost-effective manner.
  • To provide outstanding leadership, continuously challenging, innovating and improving performance in all production areas.
  • To be responsible for 1 bakery shift, including material flows into the factory, deboxing and seasoning areas.
  • To oversee production, maintain highest standards of quality and safety, improve efficiencies facilitate all product launches.
  • To provide holiday cover for other Bakery Shift Managers.
  • In the event of any shift manager vacancies, to provide shift cover during the recruitment stage.
  • Hours of work will follow shift pattern 1 in the Bakery Department, working mornings one week, followed by afternoons the next and rotate accordingly.
  • Confidentiality regarding employee and business information needs to be respected at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service

  • To take full responsibility to ensure customer service levels are fulfilled.
  • Strive to hit ATP and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Take full responsibility for the achievement of the shift production plan and ensure clear and timely communication of any service issues.
  • To support in implementation of actions to resolve customer complaints.

Health and Safety

  • To take full responsibility for site health and safety. There is no higher priority than safety on site.
  • To have read and understood the company Health and Safety policy with specific regard to the responsibilities of management.
  • Specifically maintaining high Health and Safety standards ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures for both employees and contractors.
  • Any knowledge or observation of an unsafe practice whether relating to Health and Safety, Transport, Food Safety or Hygiene, must be investigated by you and reported to a Director with appropriate steps taken to both remedy any immediate danger and prevent reoccurrence.

Quality

  • To drive continuous quality improvement through the bakery manufacturing teams.
  • To embed and proactively manage the site's food safety structure.
  • To ensure compliance to the site's food safety, quality and integrity procedures.
  • To ensure products are consistently produced to customer specifications and QAS requirements.
  • To continuously monitor and implement plans to reduce waste due to poor quality alongside the Quality Manager.
  • To ensure any issues with process, equipment or materials are escalated in a timely manner liaising directly with the Quality and Engineering teams to ensure resolution.
  • To ensure records are completed fully and accurately.
  • To record and report on key food safety and quality metrics, including cascading of information within the bakery shift teams.
  • To ensure product safety, quality and integrity issues are fully investigated, and actions implemented in liaison with the Quality Manager within agreed timescales.
  • To aspire to attain the highest achievable standard of hygiene and housekeeping in the production area, and maintain consistent, audit-ready standards.

People

  • To take full responsibility for all people management activities including absence management, discipline, grievances. To determine and ensure the achievement of the skills & training requirements of the team to fulfill current and future business needs. To lead coach and motivate the team to achieve individual and departmental development.
  • Provide coaching and support to your team on HR policy and employee relation matters.
  • To develop and train direct reports while addressing underperformance. To work on creating a strong team and taking overall responsibility for their actions.

Factory Performance

  • Drive Improvements to out material handling. Implementation of De boxing area, with procedure and systems. Elimination of cardboard and hard plastics into bakery.
  • Ensure targets are met for both labour cost % and absolute labour cost.
  • Evaluate and implement all seasonings to be decanted into seasoning room with the intention of eliminating all packaging from seasonings, pastes and fluids entering the bakery.
  • To have a particular focus on the accurate recording of agency usage and spend. Look for ways to effectively manage and minimise this cost
  • Manage and actively reduce wastage and giveaway to set agreed targets.
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure all kit is maintained to high standards and any corrective actions for equipment repair are fully recorded and communicated.
  • Ensure any improvements to the site are undertaken in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • To ensure that Health and Safety performance is continually monitored and improved upon in terms of a reduction of Health and Safety related incidents.
  • Any other reasonable request from Senior Management.

Supporting the Production Planner and understanding the basic elements of PSA, covering the role when required

Deputising for the Operations Director when absent


QUALIFICATONS:

The successful candidate should preferably have previous experience of working within a similar role gained within the manufacturing industry. Candidates must be able to demonstrate consistent decision making, project management and problem solving skills. You will be communicating at all levels, so ability to work using your own initiative as well as part of a team is essential.

The successful candidate must be computer literate and have an understanding of computer systemsShould possess a third level qualification, preferably to Degree level

Have strong knowledge of Pharma / Life Sciences customer quality and delivery requirements

Technical knowledge of Prepress, Print and Finishing would be an advantage

Logistical, analytical and organisational skills.

Strong Engineering background highly desirable

Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)

Numerical / Verbal reasoning skills

Yellow or Green belt trained would be advantageous

Supply Chain / Procurement Officer – Vehicle (Manufacturing Industry)

Working Hours: Monday – Friday (8am – 5pm)

Supply Chain/Procurement

Main Responsibilities of the Supply Chain Function      

  • Monitoring internal stock and external impress stock levels
  • Procuring and supplying components for the company’s Maintenance, Repairs, Warranty and  Rentals Department
  • Sourcing and organising the delivery of components to both internal and external sites
  • Negotiation with suppliers and procurement of parts for the Aftersales Department
  • Ensuring part costs are controlled in line with job costings
  • Completing and checking Bills of Material against aftersales-related jobs
  • Chasing supplier schedules and delivery notes for parts orders
  • Conducting impress stock checks at customer and service vendor sites
  • Updating customers and internal departments with part delivery schedules and managing expectations of supply
  • Preparing specifications and quotations for spare parts business – following enquiries through from sale to delivery
  • Maintaining intranet system accuracy with regards to internal parts stock levels and consumption

Experience and Skills required

  • Experience in the Commercial Vehicle Parts sector or Parts/Supply Chain role
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • A continuous improvement mindset with excellent practical problem-solving Skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Full UK driving license
