Role: International Freight Forwarding Apprentice

Location: Basildon

Salary: £6.56 per hour (£13,644.80 p/a)

Role Type: Permanent 40/hrs

Hours: Monday - Friday 08:30hrs - 17:30hrs (1 hour unpaid lunch)

A number of opportunities have arisen for Apprenticeships in International Freight Forwarding (L3) within Our Clients UK headquarters in Basildon, Essex.

The Role

Assist the Head of Customer Services in the execution of their duties in support of the organisation's vision to become more competitive and profitable

Understand and execute the departments vision of good business development in order to successfully Import/Export Land road freight, warehouse operations and logistics products

Opportunity to learn about international land and sea freight business

Learn about cross border tariffs, VAT charges and how to invoice

Complete all Import/Export activities correctly and on time including financial, legal and invoicing transactions

Communicate quotations to the line manager/sales team and ensure all quotations are recorded on the system in one format

Implement and improve new efficiencies in customer workflow in conjunction with line manager

Ensure all reports are generated by given deadlines and handed to line manager

Maintain excellent customer and inter-departmental relationships at all times giving regular feedback to line manager

Learn to develop interpersonal and inter departmental skills

Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and employee handbook policies

Provide holiday and sickness cover as required

Requirements

5 GCSE's A* - C including Maths & English or equivalent (new grading system 9 - 4)

Good written and oral communication skills

Can show initiative to resolve problems

Eager to learn

Self-motivated

Flexible attitude and approach

Good team-working skills

  • Have the ability to interact and communicate as appropriate with their audience, which will encompass colleagues, engineers, contract and performance managers and third party suppliers.
  • Work effectively under pressure within a busy and diverse environment.
  • Show a creative approach to analysing and solving problems using technology and reported information.
  • Adhere to process and compliance requirements.
