Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking for an experienced Transport Planner looking for their next step or Transport Manager looking for a new challenge to join a expanding company based in Blackburn, Lancashire.

The Role

To manage a team of drivers and associated fleet , and courier services., delivering Nationwide 5 days per week. To manage and maintain the company delivery schedule and ensure, service level criteria and delivery commitments are met in a timely consistent basis both daily and weekly.

Duties

  • Liaise with the planning department and warehouse to ensure the daily delivery schedule and service levels are met consistently together with full optimisation of available fleet and maximum capacity utilisation.
  • Briefing and debriefing of all drivers and communicating such information as required to the appropriate person and or department, using various computer packages.
  • Liaise with all the relevant departments within the group prior to the morning conference call. Confirm that all the days’ deliveries and collections are underway and running to time. Any problems are dealt with as a matter of urgency, all customers affected are informed and a full report prepared for the morning conference call.
  • Manage driver’s hours within the constraints of all current legislation always ensuring maximum cover for the operation. Monitor the WTD hours and give guidance and training when necessary.
  • Manage the holidays, sickness and absence for drivers ensuring compliance to company policy and requirements. Carry out return to work interviews prior to commencing any duties, set up follow up interviews when necessary and further action if required.
  • Administrative support, ensuring the input of all information and data, paperwork flow is maintained, and filing is kept up to date
  • To ensure that Drivers work within the legal requirements of all legislation and that all vehicles meet the Road Traffic Act regulations, always ensuring full Operator Licence compliance.
  • To carry out a full and documented investigation into all accidents and incidents that occur and pass on a full written report with recommendations, for further consideration and or action.
  • Ensure compliance of all reporting staff with company policies and procedures including the application of discipline procedures in line with company requirements.
  • To ensure compliance with all laid down procedures both on the premises and in the vehicles.
  • To ensure that vehicle defect procedures are strictly adhered to and liaise with the workshops to limit down time to the absolute minimum.

Knowledge and Experience Required

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years operational transport experience.
  • Proven management of fleet resources.
  • Excellent knowledge of transport and driver legislation.
  • Proven experience of setting and monitoring of achievable targets.
  • Productivity monitoring
  • Ability to plan and control hours as required.
  • Proven ability in “team building” and motivating staff.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Thorough and methodical approach to work.
  • Good verbal and numerical reasoning skills.

Desirable

  • National CPC holder, or willing to work towards this.
  • Some previous experience in dealing with a vehicle maintenance unit in achieving high standards of service levels.
  • Previous experience of dealing with customer requirements.
  • Project involvement and introducing change.
  • Good understanding of stock receiving/control in general haulage.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement process.

An opportunity has arisen for Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our client, a specialist manufacturer in the Cumbernauld area. Excellent salary and progression opportunities for the right candidate

The focus of the role is to work closely with the production team to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption.

They will need to work collaboratively with the engineering team, supporting and identifying means of improving plant productivity. They will ensure that any spare parts, materials, and equipment are available. They will be able to investigate and establish the causes of all breakdowns and machinery speed losses and record any repairs to ensure recurrent faults can be recognised.

 

The Candidate:

To successfully carry out this role you will need to be multi-skilled preferably with an Electrical bias. Electrically you will be able to fault find on single and three-phase systems, servo motors and AC motors, sensors, and various control systems. There will be an element of electrical installation as required, typically lighting and small power. Knowledge of plc electronics desired.

Mechanically you will be able to work on drive train systems, rollers, gearboxes, shafts, pneumatics, and some hydraulics. There is a requirement to be able to strip machine assemblies to component level and rebuild. You will also need to have demonstrated experience in maintenance engineering and show the ability to work off your own initiative.

Education to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is preferred, but not essential as we would consider "time served" as experience.

You will be multi-skilled and have strong communication skills and excellent organisational skills.
