The Opportunity
The successful candidate will become a member of the internal transport team, providing logistics support both internally and to our clients. The role is to manage the day to day running of the transport operation with planning, compliance, and administration duties. To support the Transport Manager in meeting strategic aims of the business in both financial and non-financial measurable objectives.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Supervising the day-to-day operations of the transport operation
- Establish best practices and protocols to achieve an efficient environment ensuring employee compliance and best practice.
- Monitor employee's performance and lead training initiatives to improve employee performance while ensuring performance management is adhered too.
- Meet regularly with colleagues to review, analyse, and implement continual improvement.
- Provide a safe working environment, adhering to health and safety and DVSA compliance guidelines ensuring they are always practiced.
- The reporting and recording of vehicle defects by drivers and reporting procedures are in place for rectification.
- Ensure company drivers comply with drivers' hours, tachograph rules and Working time directives.
- Planning to ensure company vehicles are not overloaded for use on public roads and safe loads are adhered to.
- Ensure relevant procedures and processes are followed by all employees in line with company procedures and requirements.
- Manage manpower resource effectively to support all operations, managing and adjusting levels to meet business requirements.
- Working with the Transport Manager to Organise and support the team in targets set out.
- Ensure daily operations are planned and delivered to maximize financial potential.
- Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
- Analyse expenditures and other financial information to develop plans and budget for increasing profits and improving services.
- Working to set KEY Performance indicators including service, cost, and productivity.
- Any other reasonable duties as and when requested where appropriate.

About you:

Professional and team orientated in approach
Good working knowledge of technology inclyding MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is essential
Recent experience of working in a similar position or customer / client facing administrative role
