Job: General Handyman

Location: Wantage / Oxford /Abingdon / M4 Corridor

Salary: up to £30,000 Company Vehicle Overtime rates

Job type: Permanent, Full Time

Hours of work: 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday (40 hours) - some flexibility is required

Drivers Licence essential (Work Van provided for work use)

 

 

Summary:

The provision of a defined range of Handyman services at our various client sites including, planned & reactive work, such as building checks, PA Testing, minor repairs, small projects and general handyman support for clients

General building maintenance demonstrating a good knowledge in mechanical, plumbing, electrical and basic building fabric work. Knowledge of at least one of these criteria is essential, more would be beneficial

Completion of risk assessments & method statements on site, obtaining work permits, and completion of time sheets

Compliance with company health and safety procedures and current legislation

 

Key Responsibilities:

Keeping the Contracts Manager / helpdesk informed of progress on site, notifying of any problems including if deadlines cannot be met

Ensuring that no work is carried out without a risk assessment, method statement

Liaison with other departments

Ensuring timesheets are accurately completed and submitted on time

Ensuring the clients are always presented in a positive manner

Keeping the work area clean, tidy and well organised

Occasional tasks at the discretion of the contract manager sand any additional ad hoc duties as required

Taking part in training and meetings as required and reporting to the Contracts Managers, keeping them informed of all developments

Informing the HR Manager of any personal or health issues that are causing concern and any change of personal information such as home address, telephone number

To participate in the staff appraisal program, identifying personal strengths and weaknesses and personal development needs

Note: A Disclosure & Barring Service (or CRB) check is required for this role

 

Experience, attributes & skills sought:

Qualified Handyman within one of the following electrical / mechanical / decorating / plumbing / carpentry

Good standard of numeracy and literacy

Professional attitude with good business awareness

Committed to excellence in customer care

Quick learner

Awareness of need for confidentiality

Responsive hands-on, can-do approach

Copes well under pressure

The role of Cleaning Contract Manager is vital as you are co-ordinating the operations function ensuring client satisfaction at customer sites. It is important that clients, staff and other outside agencies are greeted in a warm, friendly, courteous and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

      Provision of operational support at contract level, ensuring that all operational requirements of the contracts are met. This includes the provision of cover cleaning operatives, often at very short notice and may require the Contract Manager to personally clean the site if cover cleaning operatives cannot be sourced.

Operational planning at contract level with responsibility for contract performance and monitoring. The Operations Manager must be informed of any issues.

Client interface. This will include listening to the clients, taking notes, advising the client when you hope to get back to them, investigating, solving issues if possible and reporting back to clients as promised, keeping the Operations Manager and other staff / Directors informed as necessary.

Management of all directly employed staff including Area and Site Supervisors including recruitment and selection, training, performance management and staff retention. Management of budgets in liaison with the Operations Manager.

Collation and reporting of management information and the development of management systems.
