Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are recruiting for a company based near Wigan. Due to expansion, my client is currently recruiting for a new Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

Key Duties

• To maintain a wide range of production equipment and machinery installations.
• On-line fault finding
• Introducing process improvements
• Participating in capital expenditure projects to increase outputs and improve efficiencies
• Development and introduction of a formalised preventative maintenance program
• To gain a wide, in-depth knowledge of the current production facility, equipment and Participate in continuous improvement activities to maximise machine utilisation, decrease cycle times, and improve labour recoveries
• Fault finding and repair of all plant, machinery, and equipment.
• Carry out checks and inspection of plant, machinery, and equipment
• Liaise with external contractors

Essential Skills & Experience

• Will either be a time served fitter/engineer or have a City & Guilds certificate (or equivalent) in Mechanical Electrical Engineering including at least 17th Edition.
• Have experience in fault finding, repair and general maintenance of machinery, hydraulics, electrics, and other production associated systems.
• Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work positively in a team environment.
• Strong health and safety knowledge.
• Competent to attempt most aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering with little direction.
• Experienced with the various types of PLCs and able to competently interrogate, fault find and program with little direction.
• Experienced with control systems and finding potential faults.
• Able to read schematic drawings and diagnose faults quickly & accurately.
• Experienced with all aspects of pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Competent using MIG, TIG and electric arc welding equipment.
• Experienced in continuous improvements techniques preferred.

Main Responsibilities of the Quality Technician

• The Quality Technician will be responsible for testing manufactured photopolymer plates, raw materials and finished goods comparing to upper and lower control limits
• You will need to provide approval for release for shipment or placing material on hold for further disposition.
• As the Quality Technician, you will provide support for manufacturing and carry out in-process problem solving in a time responsive manner. 

Experience and Skills required

• The ideal Quality Technician is someone who has practical, hands-on Quality Control experience gained in a laboratory, and / or in a manufacturing environment. 
• Ideally the successful candidate will have an educational background incorporating chemistry but this is not essential, but must have the ability to analyse chemical solutions and processes,
• The Quality Technician must be a great communicator with vendors and stakeholders alike. 
• Ideally, the candidate will also need expertise of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word. 
• In addition to this, knowledge of SAP this would certainly be advantageous.

Technical Lead - Composites

Summary:

Our client is UK specialist in composites and mouldings based in Gloucester are currently recruiting for a Technical Lead -Composites to join their team. The Technical Lead will manage the delivery of engineering projects within the Composite products business unit, this will include solution development, preparation of enquiry responses, de-risking activities, validation activities, product ionisation, development projects and improvement projects. The role will require project ownership from conception through to production.

The Technical Lead will become the business expert for a given product set and work as part of a wider team of specialists, offering task management and expertise in the field of mechanical design engineering. This role will contribute to exciting civilian and defence projects.

Required Duties:

Lead the delivery of engineering projects including enquiry responses & development projects

Manage the development of new products and processes

Specification & execution of test programs for development and validation of new products

Supporting the business development team with on-site visits, customer calls and event

attendance

Acting as a point of contact for suppliers, customers, sister sites and internal departments

Become the technical expert in the business for a product range

Mechanical design engineering with composite & metallic materials

Completion of numerical and mechanical analysis, as required to demonstrate and validate

products

Occasional UK travel likely, infrequent overseas travel possible

Skills Required :

Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role

Well organised and comfortable completing multiple projects concurrently

Experience in technical writing of reports

Experience of preparing technical summaries, proposals and presentations

Basic knowledge of stress analysis by FEA & Hand Calc

Demonstrable experience in mechanical design engineering

Familiarity with composite materials desirable

Familiarity with aerospace and/or defence industry desirable

Excellent attention to detail and enjoy working in a procedure driven environment

Technical Lead will act as technical authority for thermoplastic polymer film materials and manage new business development activities for the business unit. The team member will become fully conversant in the attributes and processing methods of a range of polymer materials. This will involve interpreting customer and regulatory requirements, ensuring our products align fully with them as well as leading product improvement initiatives to improve the quality and performance of our products.

The successful candidate will build a comprehensive understanding of TPU film applications. By conducting market research for new materials, supporting collaborative developments with customers and partners and managing development of new material grades, the Technical Lead will identify new customers, applications and opportunities to achieve ambitious business growth.

Required Duties:

Technical Authority - working with the quality and process engineering departments to ensure our products are compliant with the relevant requirements and standards.

- Product Development - Managing new product development projects in a time effective manner.

- Market Research - review the raw material supplier market to identify new materials that will enhance Permali's thermoplastic product portfolio.

- Administration - creating and maintaining a directory of product files with technical data sheets, test results, approvals management, regulatory compliance statements & health & safety guidance.

- Process Optimisation - work with Process Engineering to ensure products are being produced by the most efficient / cost effective method.

- Process Research - research and understand customer processes associated with Permali's thermoplastic products and help advise best practice to our customers.

- Product Promotion - enable the Sales & Marketing team by applying technical understanding of Permali's products to commercial product literature and digital campaigns from the point of view of the market (customer).

Skills Required :

Minimum 2 years of experience working in a similar role with Polymer materials or trained in Materials Science / Engineering or similar to HNC level or above.

- An appreciation for, or experience of commercial sales in a B2B setting.

- Excellent computer skills, with working experience of using the MS Office suite, with a desire to learn new software packages.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal. Ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to team members and customers in a clear and concise manner
