As Maintenance Technician you'll enjoy being a critical part of the team and work flexibly across a variety of activities.

As Maintenance Technician you'll 'roll your sleeves up and get stuck in' wherever you're needed carrying out a variety of different tasks including routine / preventative maintenance/mechanical settings and fault diagnosis across all the facility and systems, some major items include:

  • Vertical powder paint line.
  • Semi - automated packing (tapping & spiral wrap) lines.
  • Paint line conveyor/track.
  • Spray guns reciprocator.
  • A range of liquid pumps, valves and heating elements in chemical treatment and wastewater treatment plant; and Polyamide rolling lines and packing machines.

 

As a Maintenance Technician you'll be working with aluminum rolling machines (and there aren't many of those around) so we'll make sure you'll receive all the necessary training to be successful in your role. Experience of working as a Maintenance technician is a bonus but, as a minimum we're looking for you to demonstrate that you have:

  • Proven experience of being a competent qualified electrical technician.
  • Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • A self?motivated proactive approach to work with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven experience of reading machine schematics.
  • Ability to build, maintain effective working partnerships with colleagues - we're a team and better when we work together!
  • If you have any experience of machine setting that's a bonus!

 

This role does involves physical movement including lifting, bending, twisting and carrying with loads of up to 20kg as a core part of the role.

 

 

Role details

40 hours per week alternating shift between 06.00 - 14.00 / 14.00 - 22.00

Salary - up to 43,000.00 depending on experience.

JOB PURPOSE

Accountable to the Paint Line Team Leader, the Spray Booth Operative is part of a small team responsible for the operation of the powder booth in a vertical powder coating plant for architectural aluminium extrusions. This role will also involve providing cover for the water treatment technicians as required by the needs of the business.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

  • Set-up and monitor the spray booth for correct operation to meet all agreed quality standards.
  • Complete colour changes in a timely manner understanding the impact of different colour change procedures on quality.
  • To analyse technical / quality problems with the process / product and implement solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Schedule the work to maximise productivity and achieve quality requirements.
  • To complete relevant paperwork in line with process.
  • To monitor and carry out all paint powder/consumable item stock control transactions via SAGE or similar
  • To understand customer needs in line with the needs of the business.
  • To keep up to date and respond accordingly to all enquiries.
  • To liaise with and assist internal staff where required, promptly and in a professional manner.
  • To attend meetings, training programmes, etc. as directed by management; and
  • To provide feedback to all other areas of the business to ensure continuous improvement of our services.
  • Any other duties that may be required.

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a similar role, specifically a thorough and practical understanding of the powder booth, the control panel and associated powder handling / recycling system
  • Previous experience of Water industry operations i.e. water and waste water treatment, water and sewerage network operations;
  • Proven experience of working in an organised and structured way
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-growing company
  • Ability to understand production paperwork, including engineering drawings would be an advantage
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office

Job Purpose:

Knowledge and experience

  • Relevant Manufacturing experience in BOBST Folder Gluer Machines in Corrugated industry.
  • A good knowledge of the production requirements of the various product ranges and quality control processes and requirements within the production schedule, assigning responsibilities within the team accordingly.
  • Experience of the packaging sector is essential, and knowledge of Bobst gluers is desirable.
  • Ability to design processes and layouts.
  • Full understanding of design and production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap, and re work.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to sustain and develop team working and team based problem solving.
  • Aptitude and ability to understand packaging equipment and products.

The focus of the role is to work closely with the production team to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption.

They will need to work collaboratively with the engineering team, supporting and identifying means of improving plant productivity. They will ensure that any spare parts, materials, and equipment are available. They will be able to investigate and establish the causes of all breakdowns and machinery speed losses and record any repairs to ensure recurrent faults can be recognised.

The Candidate:

To successfully carry out this role you will need to be multi-skilled and time served.

Electrically you will be able to fault find on single and three-phase systems, servo motors and AC motors, sensors, and various control systems. There will be an element of electrical installation as required, typically lighting and small power. Knowledge of plc electronics desired.

Mechanically you will be able to work on drive train systems, rollers, gearboxes, shafts, pneumatics, and some hydraulics. There is a requirement to be able to strip machine assemblies to component level and rebuild. You will also need to have demonstrated experience in maintenance engineering and show the ability to work off your own initiative.

Education to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is preferred, but not essential as we would consider “time served” as experience.

You will be multi-skilled and have strong communication skills and excellent organisational skills.

To review non-conformances and weekly KPI's to identify trends, problem areas and instigate corrective actions

Keep abreast of current and new legislation that is likely to impact the business.

Ensure customer standards and expectations are met on a day to day basis.

Support with NPD product launches.

To ensure food safety issues are actioned immediately and escalated appropriately.

To ensure the quality system documentation is audited and correctly archived.

Communicate with Team regularly/thoroughly to ensure common goals.

Ensure team members are trained to adequate levels to undertake duties required. Get involved personally with "on the job" training.

Flexible working hours to cover holiday of other members and business needs.

Carry out appraisals and create development plans for all team members. Identify any skill shortages and propose any necessary recruitment.

Assist in the development of tooling, processes and instructions working closely with Operation Continuous Manager & Maintenance Engineers.

Liaise with Development / Process Engineering, Quality and Projects departments as appropriate regarding issues relating to product specification.

Support the Quality Assurance team, providing Production input activities.

Visitor/Customer tour guide when required (occasional).
