An opportunity has arisen for Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our client, a specialist manufacturer in the Barnsley area. Excellent salary and progression opportunities for the right candidate

The focus of the role is to work closely with the production team to ensure that machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and that all maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption.

They will need to work collaboratively with the engineering team, supporting and identifying means of improving plant productivity. They will ensure that any spare parts, materials, and equipment are available. They will be able to investigate and establish the causes of all breakdowns and machinery speed losses and record any repairs to ensure recurrent faults can be recognised.

 

The Candidate:

To successfully carry out this role you will need to be multi-skilled preferably with an Electrical bias. Electrically you will be able to fault find on single and three-phase systems, servo motors and AC motors, sensors, and various control systems. There will be an element of electrical installation as required, typically lighting and small power. Knowledge of plc electronics desired.

Mechanically you will be able to work on drive train systems, rollers, gearboxes, shafts, pneumatics, and some hydraulics. There is a requirement to be able to strip machine assemblies to component level and rebuild. You will also need to have demonstrated experience in maintenance engineering and show the ability to work off your own initiative.

Education to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is preferred, but not essential as we would consider "time served" as experience.

You will be multi-skilled and have strong communication skills and excellent organisational skills.

MAINTENANCE ENGINEER – MECHANICAL BIAS

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer for a permanent role with our client, a specialist manufacturer based Blackburn.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with all production teams performing both planned and breakdown maintenance and to respond to requests for repairs/spared ordering in a timely manner in accordance with the requirements of the business. 

Responsible for ensuring that facilities, including machinery and associated services are adequately maintained and are capable of running to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes the implementation of a total preventative maintenance programme; the management of breakdowns of Laser, Waterjet, Plasma and CNC Equipment; along with general handyman type activities.

 

The Main Tasks of the Role are Outlined Below

Provide both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planned scheduled maintenance and ensuring the adherence and timely completion of work carried out.

Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve project delivery, minimise downtime, manage and implement improvement plans, drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.

Implement and manage continuous improvement and modem manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training working practices and processes.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to apply exceptional time management.
  • Strong ability to analyse, resolve and implement solutions through sound problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to analyse and present data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.

  • A proactive attitude to troubleshooting issues with equipment and finding working solutions.
  • At least 3 years' experience of reactive and preventative maintenance.

  • Engineering qualification in either electrical / mechanical.

Main Purpose of Role

To gather client requirements, developing an implementation schedule and quarterly financial forecasts, and executing the roll-out. As well as monitor all aspects of program performance - technical work, program management, material sourcing, financial goals, issue management and escalation, risk management, compliance, security, and client satisfaction.

  • Work with multi discipline teams to ensure that projects are delivered to time cost and quality.

  • Comprehend and communicate complex or technical information at a level to solicit or explain it. Able to communicate this information through written correspondence and reports.

Person Specification

Project Management skills.

  • Ability to delivering projects and programmes to time, cost and quality.
  • Ability to maximising customer potential to support greater throughput of revenue.
  • Be highly computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suites
  • Be confident with excellent  interpersonal/presentation skills and have the ability to communicate at all levels within an organisation
  • Have a flexible approach and be able to work to a high level of accuracy with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Be able to demonstrate experience in a customer facing, account/project management role preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • ideally from a defence / aerospace & security environment
