Purpose of the role

The main purpose of this role is to Manage & Develop their Direct Reports to ensure the Health and Safety of the workplace and minimise the Environmental impact of the company operation. To work closely with the Production Manager in achieving required Business Objectives.

Main responsibilities:

  • To ensure the Safety and Wellbeing of all employees under their control.
  • Follow all advise and direction given by the SHEQ Advisor with regard to Health, Safety & Environmental matters.
  • Must have the ability to use MasterPack where required.
  • Point of contact between Production Manager and all Line Leaders and Direct Reports.
  • Liaise with the Production Manager on the Production Plan to ensure all Priority levels are met.
  • Management of TPM requirements for their Department.
  • Amendment of booked quantities to match produced quantities where required.
  • Provide competent support to the management team on identifying Training gaps and prioritising the action plan to resolve.
  • Ensure SOP's are in place for all processes, and that training has been completed by Operators, including sign-off documentation.
  • Completion of all required business documentation, either personally or through the Team Leaders.
  • Work proactively with Managers and Team Leaders to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement.
  • Discuss areas for improvement with relevant staff and senior Managers and agree appropriate corrective action.
  • Be involved in Internal & External Audits as required.
  • Completion of Yearly / Half Yearly Employee Reviews.

Skills & experience:

  • Must have, or be willing to complete IOSH Managing Safely Cert.
  • Working knowledge of MasterPack procedures relating to department Processes.
  • Demonstrable experience of Managing, Training & Developing a team.
  • Honesty & Openness with people at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Effective planning and project management skills with the ability to set and work to (personal, team and organisational) deadlines.
  • Ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Flexible, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity.

Job Role:

      To comply with all HSE policies and procedures.

Implementing & supporting rapid breakdown fault finding & rectification.

Able to recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

Breakdowns, fault finding & repair of complex machinery & ancillaries.

Initiating improvement in practices, Systems & procedures.

Electrical & Mechanical maintenance.

The work may involve extended periods working on the factory floor and to tight deadlines in response to breakdowns/emergencies.

A good level of flexibility is required, working afternoon shift if urgently required,

Main responsibilities

  • Always work safely and adhere to site health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Carry out routine Maintenance work.
  • Carry out TPM on all equipment.
  • Respond to equipment failures.
  • Fit new parts and make sure equipment is working correctly and safely.
  • Liaise with suppliers, other engineering and production colleagues.
  • Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment
  • Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs.
  • Ensure there is continuous cover of machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.
  • Support in the relocation of equipment & new machinery installations
  • Maintaining facilities where required
  • Inputting key engineering data on the CMMS system

Qualifications & experience

  • Minimum Level 3 Qualification in an Engineering discipline
  • PLC experience preferred but not essential
  • 18th Edition preferred but not essential
  • Can read and translate engineering diagrams & electrical drawings
  • The capacity to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures.
  • Teamworking skills to work cooperatively and liaise with people at all levels
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence to respond positively when under pressure.
  • Can do attitude & Hands-on approach
  • Good engineering communication

Person Specific:
