Job Title: Transport Planner
Location: Coventry
Salary: From £35,000
Hours of Work: 42.5 hours per week,Monday to Friday, flexibility on daily shift pattern to suit the successful applicant, in line with business needs.
Job Type: Full time, Permanent
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an accomplished Transport Planner to join an established and successful international logistics business. The ideal applicant will be able to detail experience of planning in an express freight environment. A key role within a busy planning department, experience of import and export operations for own fleet HGV vehicles is required. The role is in the UK to Ireland team, and experience on that specific lane would be preferred.
Responsibilities:
Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Interacting with customers by email and phone to update the status of their consignment
- Responding to customer queries in a timely and personable manner
- Receiving and booking on transport movements from clients
- Assigning vehicles and trailers to transport movements, and effectively communicating instruction to relevant drivers.
- Communicating with clients in a clear and timely manner.
- Administration of PODs and job pricing.
Requirements:
- An understanding of driver hours and breaks, and loading limits is required to perform the functions of the role.
- Basic knowledge of Customs procedures between the UK and Ireland would be an advantage.
- IT literate and have a strong grasp of spoken and written English (though this can be as a second language).
- At least two years' experience in road freight transport planning of artic vehicles.
- Previous experience dealing with temperature controlled or pharmaceutical goods would be an advantage but is not a requirement. Training will be provided in this area for compliance purposes.
Additional Information:
The role is Monday to Friday, with some flexibility on daily shift pattern to suit the candidate in line with business needs. The office is operational 0600-2000. Contract working hours will be 42.5hr per week, shift hours TBA upon successful application. After a training period, one Saturday shift in 5 would be required, with a day-in-lieu the previous week.
