Accounts Payable Assistant
Rushden, Northamptonshire NN10
Salary: £26,500 per annum
Hours: 8.30am–4.30pm or 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday Permanent | Office‑Based (Hybrid option after probation)
Commutable from Kettering, Wellingborough, Northampton
We are seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join a busy finance team within a well‑established manufacturing business based in Rushden, Northamptonshire. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with purchase ledger processes and wants to build their experience across wider accounts functions.
About the Role
As an integral part of the finance department, you will support the smooth running of the purchase ledger and assist with general accounts tasks. You’ll be working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment where accuracy, organisation, and teamwork are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain and manage the purchase ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs.
- Handle supplier queries professionally and promptly.
- Support general accounts duties, including:
- Bank reconciliations
- Posting journals
- Assisting with month‑end processes
- Supporting internal and external audits
- Maintain organised financial records and documentation.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in Accounts Payable or purchase ledger is desirable, ideally within a manufacturing or similar environment.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Confident using accounting software and Excel.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
