Job description
Quality Manager / Quality Engineer – Part-Time
Guildford, Surrey | Up to £50,000 FTE pro rata | 2–3 days per week | Flexible working
Hawk3 Talent Solutions are recruiting on behalf of an established family-owned engineering and manufacturing business for an experienced Quality Manager / Quality Engineer to join their team on a part-time basis.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Quality professional looking to reduce their working hours while retaining a hands-on, influential role within a successful and established business.
The Role
This is a Quality-led position with responsibility for the company's established Integrated Business Management System.
You will take ownership of the QMS, ensuring continued compliance with ISO 9001, while also supporting the company's ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
The company's day-to-day Health & Safety provision is outsourced, so this is not a traditional H&S Manager role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and maintain the Quality / Integrated Management System.
- Plan and conduct internal audits and support external accreditation audits.
- Develop and improve processes, procedures and work instructions.
- Manage internal and supplier non-conformances and corrective actions.
- Monitor customer satisfaction, feedback and complaints.
- Analyse and report on Quality KPIs.
- Support Management Review Meetings.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers on quality and compliance matters.
- Support supplier audits and occasional supplier visits.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Support regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- 5+ years' experience in a Quality leadership role.
- Strong experience managing a QMS, BMS or Integrated Management System.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
- Good knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Proven internal auditing experience.
- Experience supporting external ISO/accreditation audits.
- Experience managing non-conformances, corrective actions and customer complaints.
- Good understanding of engineering/manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving, planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently with customers, suppliers and senior management.
- A practical, hands-on approach rather than being purely systems or paperwork focused.
CQI/IRCA, ISO Auditor or similar Quality qualifications would be advantageous.
The Culture
The company has a friendly, relaxed and genuinely collaborative culture, with a long-standing and loyal workforce.
This is a business where people know each other, work closely together and take pride in what they do. They're looking for someone who will fit into that culture, build strong relationships and bring practical Quality expertise rather than simply maintain a system.
The business is also genuinely flexible and open to discussing 2 or 3 days per week, including the working days and hours, with the right person.
What's on Offer
- Up to £50,000 FTE, pro rata
- Flexible working days and hours.
- 20 days' holiday + bank holidays, pro rata.
- Early Friday finish at 3:30pm.
- Annual company-performance bonus, pro rata.
- Aviva health insurance.
- Death in service benefit.
- Friendly, supportive working environment.
- Genuine flexibility and autonomy.
If you're an experienced Quality Manager, Quality Engineer or Quality Systems professional looking for a flexible part-time opportunity within an established engineering business, we'd love to hear from you.
