Job description
Strategic Account Manager
Location: Oldbury
Salary: Competitive, from £45,000 depending on experience. There is flexibility for the right candidate, so if you feel this opportunity could be a good fit, we’d be keen to have a conversation.
Are you an experienced Account Manager with a strong understanding of the manufacturing industry, looking for a role where you can genuinely take ownership, influence growth and build something for the long term?
Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are working with a successful manufacturing business in Oldbury to recruit a Strategic Account Manager into their growing commercial team.
This is a newly created position for someone who is driven, commercially minded and confident taking accountability for a diverse portfolio of customers.
You’ll be managing relationships across around 250 clients, ranging from straightforward day-to-day queries around timelines and deliveries through to more complex conversations around products, technical requirements and tailored solutions.
But this isn’t simply a role where you manage orders and respond to enquiries.
The opportunity is to really get under the skin of your customers and the business.
Initially, you’ll spend time meeting the existing client base, understanding their businesses, challenges and future requirements. From there, you’ll identify opportunities to strengthen relationships, increase customer value and grow the accounts you manage, while also developing new opportunities with businesses across the wider sector
What makes this opportunity different?
You’ll be joining an established team of Account Managers, but this is a new role with a clear focus on strategic account development and long-term growth.
You’ll work closely with the Commercial Director, giving you genuine exposure to the wider commercial strategy of the business.
There is also a strong track record of progression within the organisation. The Commercial Director herself progressed from Account Manager to her current position within eight years, so this is a business that genuinely invests in people who demonstrate drive, ownership and ambition.
If you want to build a career rather than simply take your next job, this could be an excellent opportunity.
The Role
- Take ownership of a diverse portfolio of approximately 250 customers
- Build strong, long-term relationships with existing clients
- Build strong client relationships, with regular face-to-face meetings to understand their businesses, requirements and future plans. The role is predominantly office-based (around 90%), with client visits as required.
- Become a trusted point of contact and a genuine partner to your customers
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and develop additional business
- Manage everything from straightforward customer queries through to complex product and solution discussions
- Work closely with internal teams including Sales, Operations, Quality, Project Management and Finance
- Take accountability for customer issues, ensuring they are followed through to resolution
- Prepare quotations, RFQs and other commercial documentation
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, services and manufacturing processes
- Contribute to the wider commercial strategy and continued growth of the business
What are they looking for?
This role would suit someone who is already experienced in Account Management, Client Management or Commercial Sales within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
You’ll need to be:
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering or another technical/industrial environment is essential. Experience within paint, coatings, plastics, injection moulding, surface finishing or a related sector would be particularly advantageous.
- Commercially aware, with a genuine interest in growing customer relationships
- Driven and ambitious, with the confidence to take ownership
- Comfortable managing a large and diverse customer portfolio
- A strong communicator who can build relationships at different levels
- Proactive and solutions-focused rather than simply reactive
- Highly organised, accountable and able to manage competing priorities
- Confident working collaboratively across different departments
- Comfortable discussing products, solutions and customer requirements
- Able to travel to customer sites when required, with a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Ready to take the next step?
If you’re an experienced manufacturing Account Manager who wants more ownership, more commercial influence and a clear route to progress, we’d love to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to join a successful business at an exciting point in its growth and become a key part of its future commercial success.
